Terms of Use
The agreement between you and the people who run Khidmat, for the website, the application and the register.
Written in plain words on purpose. Clear terms protect better than confusing ones: courts read unclear clauses against the party that wrote them, unfair one-sided terms get struck out, and data-protection law requires notices people can understand. Items in bold brackets are the answers still needed from the owner.
What these terms are
- These are the terms for using Khidmat: this website, the Khidmat application, and the register they run. They are an agreement between you and [Organisation name].
- By using the website, by signing in to the application, by sending us a form, or by agreeing to be added to the register at a survey visit, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.
- If you cannot read, the survey team will explain these terms and the Privacy Policy to you aloud before anything is recorded. Your spoken agreement is recorded. You can withdraw at any time by telling your welfare group.
What Khidmat is, and what it is not
- Khidmat is a record. Welfare groups use it to see who is already helped and to record what they give.
- Khidmat does not take, hold or transfer money, and it does not give help itself. Every decision to help a family, and every gift, is made by a welfare group or a donor, not by us.
- Being on the register does not promise any help, any amount, or any timing.
Who may use the application
- Welfare groups apply to join and are checked before they are accepted. We may refuse or remove a group.
- Each person has their own account and must keep their sign-in details secret. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- You must be at least 18 to hold an account.
Your duties when you record information
- Record only what is true, and only what you are allowed to record. Record a family only after the survey team has explained the register and the family has agreed.
- Keep family details inside your group. The family profile and the printed card that the application prepares may be made and kept only by your group’s own people, for the family’s support. Do not otherwise copy, export, photograph or share family details with anyone outside your group.
- Do not use the service to harass, discriminate against or shame any family, and do not use it for any unlawful purpose.
- Do not try to break into the service, scrape it, or copy its data by any automated means.
- If you break these rules we may suspend or close your account, and we may tell the authorities.
Information you give us
- You confirm that the information you enter is true and that you have the right to give it to us.
- You allow us to store it, to check it, to show it to the people described in the Privacy Policy, and to use it for the purposes described there. This permission is limited to what the Privacy Policy says; it is not a general permission.
- You may ask for your information to be corrected or removed at any time, as described in the Privacy Policy.
Donors
- This website introduces you to welfare groups on the register. Donors do not have access to the register itself. Any gift you make is an arrangement between you and the welfare group. We are not a party to it, we do not process it, and we do not issue receipts for it.
- A welfare group’s records on Khidmat are entered by that group. We check that a group is genuine, but we cannot guarantee every entry it makes.
Our name, logo and software
The Khidmat name, the Urdu wordmark, the design of this website and the application, and the software behind them belong to us or to Icon Pro Solutions. You may use them only to use the service. You may not copy them or use them to suggest that we endorse you.
Availability and changes
- We provide the service as it is, and we may change it, pause it for maintenance, or stop it. We will give welfare groups reasonable notice of any change that affects their records.
- We may change these terms. The new version will be published here with its date, and continued use after that date means you accept it.
Limits of our responsibility
- To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not responsible for decisions made by welfare groups or donors, for help that is late, refused or not given, for information that a welfare group or a donor entered wrongly, or for any indirect loss.
- Because the service is provided without charge, our total responsibility to you for any claim is limited to [PKR 0 or the amount the law requires]. [Confirm with a lawyer for [Pakistan].]
- Nothing in these terms removes a right that the law does not allow us to remove.
Your responsibility to us
If you break these terms, or enter false information, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you will cover the cost of that claim.
Disputes and law
These terms are governed by the law of [Pakistan]. If there is a disagreement, write to us first and we will try to settle it within 30 days. If that fails, the courts of [Quetta] will decide. [Confirm the jurisdiction.]

Urdu version to follow once the English is approved, so that the two say the same thing. For families who cannot read, the survey team reads both documents aloud and records the agreement.
